Rights Respecting School Level One Award

We are very pleased to announce we achieved Rights Respecting School Award Level One in April 2017. This was the result of a lot of hard work put in by both pupils and staff over the past few years.

The UNICEF Assessor was particularly impressed with our commitment to embedding the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child into all areas of school life including but not limited to PRSD, Local and Global Citizenship, Assemblies and individual subjects.

On the day of the assessment the School Council took the Assessor on a tour of the school and she had the opportunity to observe Mrs McArthur and Mr Melin teaching lessons with Year 8 and Primary 5. The School Council also did very well answering questions about the Rights Respecting School projects we have been involved in.

We are now looking at further embedding the work we have done at Level One in order to progress to Rights Respecting School Award Level 2 by April 2019.
