Rights Respecting School Award (RRSA)

We have continued to work hard on our Rights Respecting School journey following our successful accreditation of the Level One Award. UNICEF have changed the format of the award and we are now working through our ‘Going for Gold Action Plan’, formerly known as the Level 2 Award.

We are continuing to use the whole school charters in every classroom and in common areas such as the canteen. Rights based weekly assemblies are a highlight of school life, teachers and pupils have to be commended for the high quality and thought-provoking work which goes into the assemblies, it is a key way to teach everyone about the UNCRC.

Global Learning has a big part to play in the Gold Award criteria, and to that end two staff members, Mrs Cowan and Mrs Plunkett have attended external training through the Global Learning Programme which was cascaded to all staff during August 2018 Baker Days. Each teacher in the school has put that training into action by incorporating Global Learning into their teaching this year, this alongside our new International Partner School link with two schools in Kenya helped us achieve the Global Learning Programme Level 1 Award.
